Mini Wood Lathe Chucks – Things You Ought To Know

For someone who loves working with wood there is nothing more rewarding than that moment when the project is finished and you get to hold it in your hands and show it off to friends, neighbors and anyone else who will be polite and express their awe of your artistry. One uses wood stock in a lathe, then it becomes something called a ‘turning’. It is mounted in a machine that rotates while holding it firmly in place. This is achieved by using either a 3 or 4 jaw contraption known as a chuck.

You use T-handled tool called a chuck key to close the jaws. This simple process creates compression that holds your turning tightly in place, instead of it flying off into outer space, or a neighboring window.
